Privacy Policy

• Account details: your email address, a display name, and a password (stored only as a secure hash).
• Your gift data: people, relationships, birthdays, sizes, interests, notes, gifts, prices, storage locations, occasions, budgets, and gift history.
• Photos you choose to add for gifts and people.
• Preferences: reminder timing, email and push settings, view settings, and AI usage counts.
• Subscription details: your plan, renewal date, and Stripe customer and subscription IDs. Your card number is handled by Stripe and never touches our systems.
• Technical basics needed to run the Service, such as error logs and the browser or device type.

We do not collect location data, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not show ads.

• To run the app: show your closet, people, calendar, budgets, and reminders.
• AI features: when you ask, a photo or a short description of a person (name, relationship, age range, sizes, interests, notes, budget, and past gifts) is sent to an AI model to name a gift or suggest ideas. The model returns text only. We use these requests solely to give you the result; they are not used to train models by us.
• Reminders: to email you or send a push notification about upcoming occasions, only if you turned those on.
• Billing: to start, renew, and manage your Gift Closet Plus subscription through Stripe.
• Support and safety: to answer your emails, fix bugs, and prevent abuse.

Your data is private to your account; no other Gift Closet user can see it. We share only what is needed with service providers who help us run the Service:

• Cloud hosting and database provider (stores your account data and photos, encrypted at rest).
• AI model providers (receive only the photo or profile text needed for the request you made).
• Stripe (payment processing and subscription management).
• Email and push delivery providers (to send the reminders you asked for).

We never sell your personal information. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

Shopping links (HubHive, Amazon, Target, Walmart) take you to other companies' websites. Once you leave Gift Closet, their privacy policies apply. Amazon links may include an affiliate tag that earns us a small commission.

Photos are stored in a private bucket that only your signed-in account can read. They are shown through short-lived signed links. When you remove a photo, delete a gift or person, or delete your account, the file is removed too.

• Edit or delete any person, gift, photo, or note at any time inside the app.
• Turn email and push reminders on or off under More → Notifications.
• Cancel Gift Closet Plus any time under More → Gift Closet Plus → Manage.
• Delete your account and all of its data under More → Settings → Delete my account. Deletion is permanent.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, or for help with anything above, at support@giftclosetapp.com.

If you live in a place with specific privacy rights (for example the EU, UK, or California), you can exercise those rights by emailing us. We do not discriminate against you for doing so.

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data and photos are deleted immediately from the live system, and any backups age out within about 30 days. Stripe retains payment records as required by financial regulations.

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Every row of your data is locked to your account at the database level, and our own staff cannot browse your closet. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Gift Closet is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.

If we make meaningful changes to this policy we will email you or show a notice in the app first. The date at the top always shows the latest version.
